I haven't read a classic in quite awhile, but I am looking to here in the distant future. I have a lot of books that aren't classic yet but I want to read that are ahead of my next classic. Namely I have the "A Song of Ice and Fire" series by George R. R. Martin (that was recently made into an HBO show) that I recently purchased. I also have "Snow Crash" by Neal Stephenson that my new friend Steve lent me. If you have read any of those books I would appreciate a comment here as well!

Reading Great Expectations right now, five chapters in. Really good. Only the second Dickens book I've ever read - Tale of Two Cities was the other.

I am currently reading Game of Thrones. (Not a classic I know, you just said you were planning on reading it). I am also reading "The Glass Bead Game" by Herman Hesse. Not technically a classic, but probably will be some day.
celawerdblog - Do you like the Game of Thrones so far? What book are you reading? Would you recommend it?
So far, I'm not sure. I would defiantly only recommend it to certain types of readers. If you don't like dark, epic, historical fantasy, then you wont like this book.
I should be finished with it by tomorrow so check my blog tomorrow night and I'll have more to say about it. It's such a complex story and its not one where the ending is obvious. I have no idea how the ending is going to turn out.

Jillian... wow Vanity Fair AND War and Peace? You must have tenacity to be taking on both at the same time. I did find Vanity Fair actually quite comical at times and very much enjoyed reading it. I happened to read the Barnes and Noble paperback edition when I read it. Thanks for sharing!
Currently I am reading Romola by George Elliot, one of my favorite authors. I have been reading this book for 2 days and am on chapter 21. That book, I absolutely recommend; personally, I thinks of it a masterpiece. I also think that this book is classified as classic novel since the setting is Florence during Renaissance.

e) Yes, I highly recommend this book. It is very amusing at times, I must say, but it is written with all of Verne's ingenious wit and the science aspect is fascinating! (And a little pleasantly absurd!)
f) Yes, this book is definitely a classic! I would recommend this for anyone's shelf!
